Why I Write

Medicine has given me a front-row seat to ambition, brilliance, uncertainty, and the extraordinary decisions people make under pressure. It has also shown me that the most interesting stories are rarely about medicine alone. They are about people—what drives them, what they fear, what they are willing to sacrifice, and what happens when talent and ambition collide with power.

Those are the stories I want to tell.

The Road to Writing

I came to fiction after more than three decades in medicine, years spent inside a world of extraordinary talent, intense competition, ambition, and responsibility. Along the way, I became fascinated not only by medicine itself, but by the people and institutions behind it—the personalities, relationships, hierarchies, and sometimes unseen forces that influence who succeeds and who does not.

Eventually, those observations began finding their way into stories. Medicine provides the setting, but the questions that interest me are broader: What does ambition do to people? How does power change them? What happens when loyalty and conscience collide? And how far will someone go when everything they have worked for is suddenly within reach?
